The Indian team won the ODI Cup on 2 April 2011 after about 28 years. Now remembering this victory, former Indian all -rounder Yuvraj Singh has posted on social media on Wednesday.
Yuvraj wrote, “2 April 2011- We did that night for crores of people … and for a man who had run on his shoulders for almost two decades with Indian cricket.
That World Cup was not just a win. It was thanks to a legend. We grew up to see Sachin Tendulkar playing. That night, we played so that they can give them the moments that they do. After 14 years, India’s victory still makes my hair make up. We will never forget this night. “
The final of the ODI World Cup 2011 was played between India and Sri Lanka. Where India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. For India, Gambhir scored 97 and MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten 91 runs.
Yuvraj scored an unbeaten 21 runs in the final. He also took two important wickets. Yuvraj had a great performance throughout the tournament. He did wonders with both the ball and the bat.
Yuvraj scored a total of 362 runs in the tournament. At the same time, he took a total of 15 wickets with bowling. Yuvraj was adjudged Player of the Tournament for his brilliant performance.
