New Delhi. Today, April 28 was a special day for R Ashwin, who retired from international cricket last year. Today he has been awarded the Padma Shri Award by President of India Draupadi Murmu. Many other players including Ashwin have also been awarded the Padma Award. It also includes the name of hockey player R Sreejesh.
On Monday 28 April, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Draupadi Murmu honored R Ashwin with the Padma Award. Many big stars including PM Modi were also present in this honor ceremony. Ashwin has become the 40th Indian cricketer to take this award. Earlier, this award has been given to many other players including Zaheer Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir. In 2023, Gurcharan Singh was awarded this award.

He retired from international cricket after India’s Boxing Day Test against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground last year. PR Sreejesh was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third largest civilian award. Last year, a great hockey player who retired from hockey is considered one of the most successful players in Indian hockey history. Sreejesh played an important role in winning two consecutive Olympic medals of India in men’s hockey.
