New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has claimed that it has earned three billion rupees from hosting the ICC Champions Trophy, which is more than a target of two billion rupees. The PCB has made this claim in a written reply to the National Assembly, which has expressed concern over the continuous poor performance of the national team in the last two years.
The PCB has also confirmed in its written reply that a total of Rs 18 billion is being spent on renewal of stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. The board said that the renewal process will be completed by 2026 and its second phase will start after the end of the Super League in May.
The Pakistan Cricket Board also said that due to the Champions Trophy and other things, there has been no increase in the budget so far. The PCB confirmed, ‘Pakistan Cricket Board passes through two audit annually at the end of its financial year. The audit for the current financial year will be held after 30 June 2025.
The board also said that the final figures of the amount received from the Champions Trophy will be determined by the ICC after completing their financial audit. The PCB stressed that there was not much expenditure or mismanagement as the Champions Trophy was fully managed by the ICC.
The Pakistan Cricket Board blamed the injuries and different circumstances of playing for the poor performance of the national team. PCB wrote, ‘Many important players suffered injuries in important moments, affecting the team’s balance and strategy.
