Shammi Silva was again elected president of Sri Lanka Cricket, this is his fourth consecutive term. He was elected unopposed for 2025-27. Last year became the President of the Asian Cricket Council.

New Delhi: Shammi Silva was re -elected as the chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at the 64th annual general meeting on Monday. The SLC said he was elected unopposed for the tenure of 2025-27. This is his fourth consecutive term as the chairman and has been elected unopposed for the third time.
Silva is seen as an associate of Jai Shah of India, the current head of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He replaced Shah as the President of the Asian Cricket Council in December last year. Silva’s term was impressed by his conflict with the then Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe in 2023.

The minister appointed an interim committee after the Sri Lankan defeat against India in the World Cup 2023. Due to which Sri Lanka was suspended from the ICC. The Sports Minister was later dismissed and the court restored the SLC administration led by Silva.
