Harry Braku has been made the new captain of England’s T20 and ODI cricket team. ECB on Monday announced to make Brook a white ball captain. They will replace Jose Butler. Butler announced to leave the captaincy after the Champions Trophy 2025 last month.
26-year-old Harry Brook said- ‘It is an honor for me. When I used to play Burley cricket in Wharfdel. Then I used to dream of playing with Yorkshire and captaining England. This opportunity matters a lot to me. ‘

Brook has captained in ODI series against Australia Brook is an important part of England’s white ball team since debuting in January 2022. He is the Vice Captain of the ODI and T20 team for the last one year. He has captained English in the ODI series against Australia in the absence of Butler in September-2024. He has also captained England in the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
Butler left the captaincy due to poor performance Jose Butler left the captaincy last month due to the team’s poor performance in the Champions Trophy. He had said before the team’s last group stage match in Karachi on March 1- ‘This is the right time for me to leave the captaincy, this is the time for the team.’
The English team could not win a single match in the Champions Trophy and was out of the group stage. Not only this, the team could not reach the knockout stage in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
