Devdutt Padikkal was bought by RCB for 2 crores this year.
Indian cricketer Devdutt Padikal spoke about his Test debut at a press conference on Wednesday. He said- ‘It was always my dream to play Test cricket. It is a matter of pride for me to play for the Indian cricket team.
On the question on Virat Kohli in the interview, he said, “Virat is like a mentor and playing with him is like a dream for me to be fulfilled.”
Padikal is playing for Bengaluru in IPL 18. He has scored a total of 78 runs in 4 matches so far. Earlier, he played for RCB for 2 years.
A half -century innings played in the first Test
Padikkal was included in the Indian team for the Test series against England in February 2024. He started his Test career at Dharamshala on 7 March 2024. In his first match, he scored 65 runs in 103 balls, including 10 fours and 1 six.
RCB retained after 3 years
Padikkal scored 473 runs in its first IPL season of 2020-21 and also won the Emerging Player Award. He also scored 400 runs for RCB in its next season. However, Bangalore then released the neighborhood and Rajasthan Royals bought them in the auction before IPL 2022. After playing with 2 years RR and one year LSG, in the 2025 mega-auction, the Pudical was bought back to the RCB.
Travel from domestic cricket to international level
Devdutt Padikkal plays domestic cricket for Karnataka. He has represented teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his debut for India in the T20 International match against Sri Lanka in July 2021.
