New Delhi. The fans were disappointed to see the name of former Indian team all -rounder Irfan Pathan missing from the commentary panel of the Indian Premier League. The BCCI decided to keep him out of the tournament due to his continuous personal remarks on the players. The IPL 2025 season started by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeating defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 22 March. So far, the batsmen have dominated the tournament while the bowlers are struggling.
Fans have chosen their favorite teams in the beginning of IPL, while many cricket experts have also expressed their choice. Irfan Pathan also described his choice and named 4 teams who reached the playoffs of IPL 2025. Talking on his YouTube channel, former Indian all -rounder selected Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (Mi), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The amazing thing is that the name of Sunrisers Hyderabad is not included in this list.
CSK and RCB started IPL 2025 with win while Mi and DC faced defeat in their first match. In the last season, CSK, Mi and DC had failed to reach the second round. RCB defeated CSK in their last league match of the season and made it to the next round.
Irfan Pathan out of IPL commentary panel
Toi quoted sources as saying, Irfan Pathan is not part of the commentary panel of IPL 2025. “Pathan had a dispute with some players a few years ago. Since then, he has not avoided criticizing him aggressively. The case was raised that other junior players also got caught in this controversy. They have been accused of targeting them without naming social media platforms,”
Irfan started commentary before retiring from international cricket and he was regular in IPL. Prior to Irfan, prominent commentators like Harsha Bhogle and Sanjay Manjrekar were also dropped from the commentary panel. Both the major commentators returned after a few years.
