Abhishek Nair, who was removed from Team India’s assistant coach, has again joined Kolkata Knight Riders. Its information was given by the franchise on X on Saturday. However, this post did not mention which post he has returned. In fact, on Friday, BCCI removed Abhishek Nair from the post of Assistant Coach of Team India. Apart from Abhishek Nair, fielding coach T Dilip and trainer Soham Desai were also discharged from Team India. BCCI took this action after India’s shameful defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia.
Nair was part of KKR till 2018-2024 Abhishek Nair was part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ coaching staff in IPL from 2018 to 2024. In July last year, he was included in the coaching staff of Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Abhishek worked with Gambhir in KKR Dravid’s term ended after the T20 World Cup 2024. After this, BCCI made Gambhir the head coach. Gambhir had linked his colleagues associated with Kolkata Knight Riders as his colleague. Before becoming the head coach of the serious Indian team, KKR had been mentor and then Abhishek Nair was in the same team, Ryan Ten Dashakate, a colleague staff. Morne Morkel worked with Gambhir at Lucknow Super Janents. Dilip was in the post of fielding coach since the time of Dravid.
However, Abhishek was being questioned after a crushing defeat in the Test series against New Zealand and Australia.
