New Delhi. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced an organization on Sunday 13 April to help women cricketers of Afghanistan. Many women cricketers from Afghanistan are currently living in Australia and for this the ICC has collaborated with the Cricket Board of India (BCCI), England and Australia’s Cricket Board.
In this historic initiative, the ICC has joined hands with the three most influential boards of the game- BCCI, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and Cricket Australia (CA) to help these talented Afghan players in both their cricket and personal development. The ICC will set up funds to help them to ensure that these cricketers have all the resources that they need.
The ICC said in a press release that there will also be a strong high performance program which will have complete facilities to help coaching, world class facilities and their entire preparation. ICC chairman Jai Shah said, “In the International Cricket Council, we are committed to promote all of us and to ensure that every cricketer has the opportunity to play regardless of his situation.”
He said, “In collaboration with our partners, we are proud to start this workforce and aid fund, with a comprehensive high performance program to ensure that Afghanistan’s displaced women cricketers can continue their journey in the game. This initiative will inspire the global development and unity, flexibility and hope of cricket. ”
