Pakistan’s first captain to visit India
Before the partition of the country, Abdul Hafeez Kardar, Aamir Elahi and Gul Mohammed used to play for the Indian cricket team. On 14 August 1947, a new country was born as Pakistan. After this, Abdul Hafeez Kardar and Aamir Elahi left India to Pakistan. Abdul Kardar became the first captain of the Pakistan cricket team. He played 23 Tests for Pakistan from 1952 to 1958. When Pakistan’s team came to India for the first time in 1952, its captain Abdul Kardar was. Abdul Kardar, who played three Test matches for India in 1946, is called the father of Pakistani cricket.
First played for Baroda and India, then Pakistan…
Lahore -born Aamir Elahi played a Test match for India before independence. The match was against Australia, in which he scored 17 runs. After the partition of the country, Aamir Elahi chose Pakistan. He played five Tests for Pakistan in 1952-53. Aamir Elahi was the first medium pacer and later leg-break was bowling. Before going to Pakistan, he used to play for Baroda in Indian domestic cricket.
Played India in 1952 and Pakistan in 55
The story of Gul Mohammed is slightly different from Abdul Kardar and Aamir Elahi. This player stayed in India after the partition of the country. Gul played eight Tests for India from 1946 to 1952. After this, he dropped from the team. In 1955, Gul Mohammed moved to Pakistan. After this, he was selected in Pakistan’s cricket team. However, for Pakistan, he was able to play only one Test match. In this way his Test career was of nine Tests, in which he scored 205 runs and took two wickets. Gul Mohammed also shared a 319 -run partnership with Vijay Hazare in the Ranji Trophy before going to Pakistan.
