Dubai: After 128 years, preparations for cricket going to be held in the Olympics are going on loudly. The Pomona city of South California will host the cricket event during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The ICC announced this on Tuesday.
Six teams in the men and women category will participate in the cricket competition. It will be held in the fairground of Pomona.
ICC Chairman Jai Shah said in a release, “We welcome the announcement of the venue of cricket in Los Angeles 2028 as it is an important step towards the preparation of the return of our game in the Olympics.”
He said, ‘Cricket is a very popular sport, but it will be a great opportunity to expand the game. Fast, cricket will attract new audiences in the Olympics in the exciting T20 format.
Cricket was earlier part of the 1900 Paris Olympic Games. It was included in the Los Angeles Olympic program in October 2023 after the 141st IOC session.
