New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming dismissed criticisms that his team’s style of cricket was now overwhelmed. He said that there is a lot of attack in the Chennai team and no one makes the mistake of assessing them less.
Five -time IPL champion Chennai was defeated by RCB by 50 runs on Friday. RCB has defeated Chennai for the first time since 2008 in his stronghold Chepock.
Asked if his style of cricket is now over, the former New Zealand captain said, ‘What is the meaning of it, what is the cricket of my style. Winning the first match, this is the right way. We have a lot of aggression. I did not understand this question.
He said, ‘Just because we do not start beating with the first ball. We will finally see. We play positive cricket and no one can underestimate us. This is a stupid question.
Fleming, however, admitted that his team’s fielding in Friday’s match was very bad. He said, ‘We lost two or three opportunities. We gave them a chance to create pressure. The score of 175 would have been correct, but we made mistakes in fielding. Josh Hazlewood bowled brilliantly for RCB.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls and broke Suresh Raina’s record of scoring the most runs for Chennai in the history of IPL. Fleming said, ‘He has been practicing for the last one month and has worked hard on fitness with the trainer. However, when he came to bat, it became very difficult to win.
